"1670" pretends to be a silly comedy about the seventeenth-century nobility, which is why it rarely becomes a pretext for a serious conversation about the past. Meanwhile, it turns out not so much to be a joke about the modern Republic of Poland, but a story about why its spectre keeps coming back to us.
