Pilibhit is a district in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is currently trending due to a major financial scandal involving a government peon who allegedly diverted crores of rupees from state coffers into the bank accounts of his three wives, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and other female associates. Several of his relatives, including two wives, have been arrested in connection with the embezzlement. The region is also notable for the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, a significant wildlife sanctuary.
